JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating the cause of fire at one of the libraries at Wits University.

The university says about 100 books were burnt when a section of the Wartenweiler Library caught fire on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the institution's security, a flammable substance hidden in a bag was found at the scene.

Despite this, the university says academic programmes are continuing as planned.
