TOKOZA - Members of the lesbian community in Tokoza in Ekurhuleni took to the streets to protest against the murder of one of their own.

Duduzile Zozo’s half-naked body was found in a neighbour’s yard on Sunday morning.

Zozo, who was openly gay, was her family's breadwinner.

Her mother, Osma Thuziwe, said Zozo was a tomboy.

"From the time she was born she’s never worn a skirt or a dress, or even feminine shoes."

Zozo’s family suspects her sexuality is the motive behind her gruesome killing

The killers haven’t been arrested yet, sparking fears of more attacks.

Meanwhile, gays and lesbians in Tokoza said they have had enough and are tired of being victimised. They have demanded that police do more to protect them.

Activist Bianca Laban warned that police don't act and pull up their socks, "...we’ll definitely take the law into our own hands."
