An explosion at its Roosevelt Park substation has resulted in power outages in several suburbs in Johannesburg.

JOHANNESBURG - City Power has apologised on Twitter for power outages in some Johannesburg suburbs.

Residents of Northcliff, Berrario and Fairland have been without power for over 24 hours.

The authority says this was due to an explosion at its Roosevelt Park substation.

City Power says it should have restored power to the areas by at least 2pm on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Eskom says it expects the grid to remain stable with a low risk of load-shedding on Saturday.
