JOHANNESBURG - The South Gauteng High Court has set aside a controversial Prasa tender involving trains that are too tall for the country’s rail network.

The tender was awarded to Swifambo Rail Leasing in 2013.

But, the trains were later found to be unsuitable for local railway lines.

Prasa, under the leadership of former Chair Popo Molefe, petitioned the court to have the tender struck down.

The agency also sued Swifambo for more than two-and-a-half-billion rand.
