BOKSBURG - The Department of Correctional Services says it’s saving the taxpayer millions through its prisoner rehabilitation programme.
The department invited members of the media for a tour of its Boksburg prison facility in Ekurhuleni.
Officials say prisons should be places for rehabilitation, not just retribution.
Over 300 prisoners have benefitted from the institution’s programmes, becoming skilled artisans or gaining computer skills.
The facility&39;s bakery serves hundreds of fresh loaves daily, saving the prison over R2-million.
