November 16, 2014: The plane carrying the remains of the South African victims killed in a building collapse in Nigeria, has arrived at the Waterkloof Airforce Base in Centurion.
CENTURION - A plane carrying the remains of 74 of the victims of the Nigerian church collapse has landed at Waterkloof air base in Pretoria.
Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe said yesterday that the original number of 85 to be repatriated had been revised down to 74, as the process of identifying the deceased was still not complete.
Radebe addressed the media in Lagos, Nigeria, shortly before a cargo plane carrying the remains of the victims left the Sam Ethnan Airforce Base late last night.
A short ceremony will be held for the deceased and their families at Waterkloof today.
The remains will then will be taken to their final resting places.
Meanwhile, the inquiry into the building collapse continues in a Lagos court.
