China to invest in SA road infrastructure

XIAMEN - Chinese President, Xi Jinping, promised to strengthen relations with South Africa and support development on the African continent

President Jacob Zuma led a delegation at the ninth Brics summit in that country.

Xinping said relations between the two nations are at their best and commended the strengthening of strategic partnerships recently.

China wants to work with South Africa in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative.

The initiative involves China pledging billions of rand towards infrastructure development across Asia, Europe and Africa.

Jinping said China and South Africa have maintained close co-operation and will continue working towards common development.
