CAPE TOWN - Vusi Mavuso and Krish Naidoo resigned from the SABC board on Wednesday as the national broadcaster was questioned by a parliamentary committee.

Parliament is discussing the fate of the SABC as well as the future of Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

The communications portfolio committee wants the public broadcaster to explain its response to the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) ruling against Motsoeneng.

Last month, the SCA confirmed an earlier court decision setting aside his appointment as chief operating officer (COO).

Motsoeneng has now been re-appointed to his old position of Group Executive, Corporate Affairs, a move which the ANC wants reversed.

The governing party also wants a probe into the SABC board's fitness to run the organisation.

The broadcaster reported losses of over R400-million for last year.
