Sassa wants CPS contract to be extended

File: Sassa and Sapo have agreed to a hybrid system to pay social grants to millions of beneficiaries.

JOHANNESBURG - Sassa wants another extension of its contract with Cash Paymaster Services.

It’s asking the Constitutional Court to extend the contract by six months.

Sassa says this will give the Post Office enough time to take over social grant payments.

In 2017, the Constitutional Court granted Sassa a 12-month extension, allowing the agency time to find an alternative to CPS.

That deadline expires at the end of March.
