BLOEMFONTEIN - Government’s decision not to arrest Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir comes before the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein on Friday.
The government is appealing an earlier ruling by the North Gauteng High Court. That court came to the decision that Bashir should have been apprehended when he came to South Africa in June last year for an African Union summit.
It says government was obliged to do so, as a Rome Statute signatory.
He is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur.
