Thailand launches Crusade Against Counterfeiters on counterfeit Viagra pills.

JOHANNESBURG - More than R200,000 worth of illegal pharmaceutical products have been seized by the Hawks in the Durban CBD in a cross-country sting.

The sting was part of a joint operation by Interpol that originated in Zambia.

Shop owners who stocked legal medicines without being licenced pharmacists also came under fire.

Skin lightening cream and viagra  were amongst the products confiscated, they are some of the products that usually sell like hot cakes at these shops.

Three people have been arrested and will appear in the Commercial Crimes Court.

The Hawks, customs officials and the department of health swooped on shops in the Durban CBD and shop owners had no choice but to look on as police emptied their shelves.

A stern warning has gone out to those who already have these medicines in their possession

Shop owners implicated in the illegal sale of these goods could face a hefty fine or lose their trading licensees.
