Government applauded for tackling hate crimes

JOHANNESBURG - Civil society groups have applauded government’s efforts in dealing with hate crimes against gay and transgendered individuals.

The justice department set up a task team in 2011,  to tackle legal issues involved in reporting such crimes.

On Monday, the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community gathered in Johannesburg to discuss some of the changes in the way they are treated in society, but say, there&39;s still room for much improvement.
