Ahmed Timol's newphew Imtiaz Cajee wrote a book on his uncle's death.
JOHANNESBURG - Ahmed Timol's parents died with heavy hearts, not knowing the truth about their son's last moments.
This was part of Timol’s nephew Imtiaz Cajee's testimony.
He recalled the pain his family experienced after being told the activist had died.
The Timols want a memorial built around Johannesburg Central Police Station to honour all former political detainees.
It's also their wish that part of the 10th floor -- formerly used by apartheid security forces -- be converted into a memorial.
Police claimed Timol committed suicide by jumping from a 10th floor window back in 1971.
But his family has always maintained he was murdered by the apartheid police.
The inquest continues on Wednesday.
