JOHANNESBURG – A toddler, believed to be two-years-old, has drowned in a swimming pool at a house in the Kempton Park area.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics were alerted on Monday evening that a guardian had found “a child floating” in a pool.

He said paramedics “immediately responded”. They met the distraught family, who were with the toddler, along Monument Road, a short distance from the hospital.

“Upon assessment, paramedics found that the young girl showed no signs of life. CPR and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilise her vital signs. Shortly after treatment, the girl was transported to the hospital,” said Meiring.

“Unfortunately … no vital signs returned and the child was declared dead.”

Local authorities are investigating the matter.
