KRUGERSDORP - The statues of Paul Kruger and JG Strijdom in Krugersdorp were defaced on Wednesday.
They were vandalised hours after the tough talk by security cluster ministers against the practice.
Forensic experts and investigators scrutinised the scene and messages for clues.
Some locals believe more could have been done to safeguard the statues.
“We are extremely disappointed.
“We handed over a petition to the municipality with the specific aim to do more crime prevention and the defecation of these statues.
“It’s part of our heritage. It’s part of Afrikaner Heritage and South African heritage," said Amanda De Lange, Freedom Front Plus Councillor
Mogale City Municipality said it&39;s not in a position to have around the clock security watching over them.
