PRETORIA - An Uber driver has died after suffering serious burn wounds when his car was set alight, allegedly by meter taxi drivers.
The driver was in his car when it was torched outside Loftus Versveld in Pretoria five weeks ago.
He survived, but suffered extensive burn wounds.
The Uber Drivers Movement said he was recovering, but died unexpectedly on Monday morning.
The movement said he was targeted during an ongoing turf war between Uber and meter taxi drivers.
The meter taxi industry has accused Uber drivers of stealing their business, calling the ride-hailing service illegal.
