Cape Town, 6 February 2016 - Another UCT student has been attacked and raped by a suspected serial rapist. It's the fourth incident in the same area since December.

CAPE TOWN – UCT is appealing for information on a suspected serial rapist attacking students close to Rhodes Memorial.

It’s also warning students to avoid the area, after a fourth sexual attack in two months.

A female UCT student described her attacker as a well-spoken man in his 20s who tried to strike up a conversation. But he then overpowered her and repeatedly raped her for several hours.

Two other students and a female hiker have been sexually assaulted and robbed by a suspect fitting the same description.

“The campus protection services are operational 24 hours and students can contact 021-650-2222," said UCT spokesman Elijah Moholola.

"The protection services are always ready to deal with any possibility of any incidents and we do encourage students and staff members to report anything suspicious."
