VIDEO: Cash in transit robbery caught on CCTV

DURBAN - Police have opened a case of robbery after an armed man took an undisclosed amount of money from a cash in transit vehicle.

The incident occurred at a petrol station in Verulam around 2.30pm on May 3. The robbery was captured on CCTV and police are appealing to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station.

Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said the truck had just collected cash from the venue when the suspect pounced on the security guard and took the loot at gun point.

The security guard’s firearm was taken during the robbery.

“No arrests have been made.

“No shots were fired and nobody was injured.

“Police are looking for a male suspect who fled the scene on foot,” said Zwane.
