What is the Parliament Challenge?

Livity Africa&39;s VIP team is opening up a crowd-sourced challenge to the South African community to suggest crucial issues, topics or policy ideas that one young South African will take to parliament. And that young South African could be you!

How does it work?

Livity Africa wants you to tell them what issue you want to see changed around and how. The VIP team will then work together with political experts, civil society organisations and Members of Parliament to turn the winning idea into a submission.

This means that if your idea is chosen, it will be put forward for consideration to a group of selected MPs from relevant committees.

How to take part?

Livity Africa’s VIP team have selected four categories and departments under which you can submit your policy idea to:

Department of Health
Department of Higher Education and Training
Department of Labour
Department of Police

Then what?

Successful submissions will be shortlisted and entered for VIP’s online community to vote on the hottest issue. The winning submission will go through a process of refining the idea and turning it into a presentation to be presented to Parliament.

The prize for the winning entrant is a flight to Cape Town, a night’s stay at a Cape hotel and a trip to Parliament to see their idea get presented.

Entries close on Sunday, 11 October, 2015.
