JOHANNESBURG - The personal information of millions of South African&39;s has been leaked onto the internet, but the Information Regulator of South Africa says it&39;s essential to have safeguards in place.
According to Pansy Tlakula, chairperson of the Information Regulator, "The good news is that those that doubted the importance of having an information regulator in SA have been proved wrong.
"It&39;s important to have a body that will protect the personal information of South Africans. It&39;s negligence really, because if you process personal info as the responsible party you have to ensure that there are adequate safeguards to secure the info you are processing."
