POTCHEFSTROOM - ANC Youth League President Collen Maine says it was North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo who introduced him to the controversial Gupta family, and not former president Jacob Zuma.

Maine was addressing a memorial for Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in Potchefstroom on Wednesday.

He has previously denied meeting the Guptas and has publicly defended the brothers.

In 2016, he was accused of accepting over R100,000 towards his bond -- and other gifts -- from the family.

But he denied this.

In a startling admission, Maine said unlike him and others, Mama Winnie refused to meet with the family.

He says when they&39;re called to account to the courts and commissions, ANC comrades must not support them.
