JOHANNESBURG - Working as a mechanic at a marine company for more than 20 years enabled Lucas Mxoxozi to support his family.

Nowadays Mxoxozi can barely afford the milk he’s just bought at a local spaza shop, having lost his job last year. 

Also struggling to find work is his recently graduated son, Phelo.

Statistician General Pali Lehohla says the high unemployment rate is a key factor in the large-scale poverty in the country.

eNCA takes a look at a father and son who are struggling to find jobs to support the family.
