JOHANNESBURG - As the race for Democratic Alliance leadership hots up, parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane and outgoing federal chairman Wilmot James have faced off in a debate.
The live debate was aired by kykNet on Monday night and saw the two men tackle hot topics such as the death penalty, religion, sexuality and the role of the judicial system.
The event was initiated by James after he&39;d announced his desire run for DA leadership.
James said he had skills Maimane did not have, adding running for DA leader would be a good test for democracy within the party.
The party is due to hold its federal congress in Port Elizabeth on May 9-10.
