
Protests in Mitchells Plain overnight and this morning have seen a petrol station, ATM and vehicles set alight. Residents are furious over a lack of housing.

CAPE TOWN – A Mitchells Plain petrol station, ATM, and a shop were set alight on Wednesday during a protest over housing.
A stand-off has developed between residents of that community and residents of the adjacent Siqalo informal settlement.

Major roads leading in and out of the area are closed and police are monitoring the situation.
