JOHANNESBURG - Doctor Kavita Lakha is a scientist who spends her time seeking out secrets from the past.

Her work is uniquely South African too, with a humanitarian focus.

She works for the NPA's Missing Person's Task Team, specifically searching for the remains of those linked to South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

She has been named as one of Mail and Guardian's 200 Young South Africans.

Joanne Jospeh asked her about the accolade and what it takes day to day to find the missing.
