Authorities in the Western Cape say they're doing everything possible to curb a spate of robberies at shopping malls ahead of the festive season.

CAPE TOWN - Authorities in the Western Cape say they&39;re doing everything possible to curb a spate of robberies at shopping malls ahead of the festive season.

One of the new safety measures is a rent-a-cop system.

Police believe well-organised syndicates are behind the spate of robberies and Canal Walk Shopping Mall CEO Gavin Woods is hoping the extra safety measures will keep the criminals away.
