JOHANNESBURG - Freestyle football has in recent years been enjoying a huge rise in popularity, thanks to advances in worldwide media sharing and social media.

With firm roots in the Hip-Hop breakdancing culture, Freestyle football is now very much a sport in its own right as a combination of dance, football and rhythmic gymnastics.

Ashley “Floorise” Mkhize is a home-grown South African freestyle football champion.

eNCA.com's Travis Richards caught up with the KZN born freestyler in Newtown Johannesburg, where Mkhize said he discovered the sport on the Internet, having watched videos of Brazilian idol Ronaldinho.
