JOHANNESBURG - Former Bafana Bafana striker Siyabonga Nomvethe has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 40.
Nomvethe will serve out his current contract with AmaZulu, which expires in December, which means he will retire at the age of 41.
On Friday, his club said a match in his honour will be announced soon.
“It’s time for the youngsters to take over," said Nomvethe on Friday.
"Football is about playing with the heart. I have done my part. I am very happy. It is time to say goodbye. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way."
