JOHANNESBURG - South Africa’s achievements at the relatively unknown World Transplant Games are nothing short of outstanding.

The tournament dates back to 1978 and this year, Team SA finished third on the medals table, bagging 35 gold, 23 silver and 18 bronze medals in Spain.

One person who knows of the personal sacrifice such an achievement takes is Martinique du Preez who had two kidney transplants.
