Igesund, 60, replaces Allan Freese in the position of the newly promoted Premiership outfit.

Following promotion from the National First Division, Highlands Park have picked up just four points from five games played this season and will hope for a change of fortunes under the former Bafana Bafana coach’s leadership.

Igesund has already made his mark in PSL history books having led Manning Rangers, Orlando Pirates, Santos and Mamelodi Sundowns to the league championship. He also had runners-up placings with Ajax Cape Town and Moroka Swallows.

The four-time Premiership-winning coach will lead Highlands Park for the first time against Chippa United in the Telkom Knockout on Friday at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa.
