Sundowns confirmed to host Barcelona

JOHANNESBURG – Spanish giants Barcelona are to jet off to South Africa to face Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Absa Premiership champions confirmed that they will host the Spanish champions at FNB Stadium on 16 May.

The Premier Soccer League said in a statement that the match has been arranged to form part of the Nelson Mandela Centenary Celebrations.

"The Executive Committee of the league granted the requested subject to compliance with all of the relevant requirements of CAF and FIFA and also on the express basis that Mamelodi Sundowns will comply fully with every requirement of SASREA," PSL said in a statement.

It will be the second time Bafana Ba Style host Barcelona.

In 2007, the Catalans prevailed 2-1 in a clash played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
