Durban, 20 September 2016 Wayde van Niekerk was lauded by Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt when he won gold in the 400 metres at the Rio Olympics. Now he wants to challenge him in next year's 100 and 200 metre sprints in the world championships.
JOHANNESBURG - Olympic sensation Wayde van Niekerk went from local star to global phenomenon when he broke a 17-year 400m world record at the Rio Olympic Games and now prepares to take on sprint king, Usain Bolt.
Van Niekerk trained with the triple Olympic champion in Jamaica before the Rio Games and now fancies himself to take on the Jamican in the 100m and 200m events.
