JOHANNESBURG - Former Springboks Manager Morne Du Plessis paid tribute to Williams with an emotional and heartfelt speech.
Former teammates, dignitaries, family and friends gathered at Newlands in Cape Town for the funeral of former Springbok wing Chester Williams.
"Chester was distinctive and stood out as a role model to us all. A gifted footballer, with exceptional work ethic, we all know that work ethic, there was just nothing like it," said Du Plessis.
Williams died last Friday from a heart attack. He was 49.
He made his test debut at the age of 23 against Argentina.
He played 27 tests for South Africa, scoring 14 tries.
