CAPE TOWN - Comic books fans had a treat this weekend in Cape Town.
The city played host to the inaugural Cape Town FanCon, where hundreds of fans took part.
It was a veritable feast for fantasy and science fiction enthusiasts, as well as comic book lovers looking to boost their collections.
Event organisers said the fans&39; response has been excellent.
“We did hit our capacity, we were full jam packed. Today is looking like really good strong turnout even though it&39;s Mother&39;s Day but a brilliant turnout. I think Cape Town has really come out for this show I am really impressed,” said event organiser, Nizar Abrahams.
Abrahams said FanCon is geek heaven for fans with activities galore, including cosplay, dance performances and the obligatory Geek Quiz .
Rare and vintage comic books were on display, while writers and illustrators from home and abroad were in attendance to enthral the crowds.
The organisers said they&39;re hoping the event becomes a prominent feature on the comic book social calendar.
