South Africa’s vaccination rate continues to lag despite an aggressive national rollout. Hesitancy is often cited as the only reason, but in rural areas, getting a vaccine is not always that easy. The new programme is addressing this in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga and is taking jabs straight to the people. Using community workers, they have reached thousands of people over the last few weeks.
