JOHANNESBURG - Reports on social media of the first snowfall of the year have come pouring in from KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.

The eNCA weather department predicted snow would accompany the cold front that made landfall on Thursday evening.
The team predicted the icy flurry would extend from Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape through Hogsback and the Witteberge in the Eastern Cape, to the Drakensberg mountain range and into Lesotho.
Images of Eastern Cape mountain ranges and KZN back yards covered in a blanket of snow have flooded Twitter and Facebook feeds; racking up hundreds of shares and retweets as people watch the change of season in real time.
