A massive fire broke out at the General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville Kentucky on 3 April, 2015.

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky - A huge fire has engulfed the General Electric Appliance Plant in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dramatic images have emerged on Twitter as firefighters frantically attempt to bring the blaze under control.

The 41,000 square metre building is leased by Derby Industries as a supplier and distribution centre.

The building has been completely destroyed but all staff have been safely evacuated. There were not many people in the building due to the public holiday.

Firefighters are describing it as a six alarm fire, which means reinforcements have been called in to help contain it.

It’s unclear what caused the blaze.
