CARACAS - Venezuela&39;s President Nicolas Maduro said Tuesday that he is ready to run for a second term if he is nominated by his ruling Socialist Party.

"I am a humble worker, a humble man of the people. If the United Socialist Party of Venezuela... believes that I should be the presidential candidate... I&39;m at your service," Maduro, 55, told reporters before addressing a rally in Caracas.

Maduro, who has yet to formally be nominated by the party, was speaking hours after the ruling Constituent Assembly voted to bring forward presidential elections to the first quarter of 2018, from the end of the year.
