Illegal mining kingpin linked to 29 murders shot dead

JOHANNESBURG - Police have shot and killed a suspected illegal mining kingpin.

The Lesotho national has been linked to 29 murders in Florida and Nomzamo in Soweto.

The raid was part of the police's Operation Vala uMgodi.

The operation has also seized R32-million worth of uncut diamonds since its launch in December last year.

It's also resulted in the arrest of almost 5,000 suspects.
