Municipalities not well equipped to deal with disasters, says EC MEC

Two people died and hundreds were left homeless after structures were blown away by the strong winds.

JOHANNESBURG - Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Zolile Williams says the gale force winds that have wreaked havoc in parts of the Eastern Cape should be a reminder of the reality of climate change.

Williams visited the worst affected areas in the Buffalo City Metro.

There has also been extensive damage to infrastructure with several communities in the province being left without power.
