EAST LONDON - Two people have been killed in gale-force winds and heavy rains in the Eastern Cape.

Homes and health facilities were also damaged in the weekend storms.

Winds reaching speeds of up to 124km/h ripped roofs off houses.

Many families have now been left homeless.

Those lucky enough to still have a roof, have no power.

Damage to power lines has left large parts of East London in the dark.

Some areas have also been cut off as mudslides block roads.
