Restore the power grid | Additional 800MW for Medupi by October

LIMPOPO - In three months time, Medupi Power Station in Lephalale will have an additional 800 megawatts of power to feed into the national grid. 

That's according to Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, who visited Medupi and Matimba Power Stations in Lephalale, Limpopo on Tuesday.

The power utility managed to procure a secondhand generator to be installed at Medupe power station, Unit 4, following an explosion in 2021. 

The Minister says the power utility is expected to procure a new generator by the end of 2025. 

South Africa has not experienced blackouts for nearly four weeks.
