Marshalltown fire | Report recommends action against MMCs, JPC CEO

JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Human Settlements is refusing to accept responsibility for the Usindiso Building fire.

The blaze claimed the lives of 76 people in the city's CBD.

The Khampepe Inquiry into the tragedy found that Joburg city departments and agencies are to blame.

Public Safety, Human Settlements and the Joburg Property Company have been implicated.

Judge Sisi Khampepe recommended action against the MMCs and the CEO of the JPC.

Human Settlements says it was not responsible for the building and was not called to make submissions.
