2024 elections | IEC, MK Party square off at Apex Court

JOHANNESBURG - The IEC is at the Constitutional Court on Friday.

It's asking the court to appeal an Electoral Court ruling allowing Jacob Zuma on the ballot.

The commission decided earlier this year to bar the former President due to his 2021 prison sentence.

Zuma was sentenced to 15 months in prison for refusing to appear before the State Capture Commission.

However, the IEC's decision was overturned by the Electoral Court following an application by the MK Party.

Meanwhile, Zuma wants at least six Constitutional Court Justices recused from the case.

He says they were part of his sentencing and have the potential for bias.
