Cost of living crisis | Mixed outlook for inflation data

JOHANNESBURG - There is a mixed outlook for inflation, with the latest data for March coming out on Wednesday.

In February, inflation edged higher to 5.6 percent due to medical insurance inflation being updated as well as the usual suspects of transport and food inflation.

We had a slight reprieve in December, with the number at 5.1 percent with lower food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation contributing to the decrease.

October last year was again a tough month at 5.9 percent.

Our best month was July last year at 4.7 percent, close to the South African Reserve Bank's midpoint target of 4.5 percent.
