Discussion | AGOA | 'Trade deal a catalyst for youth empowerment' - Afrika Tikkun

JOHANNESBURG - The renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) until 2041 is a catalyst for the socio-economic development of youth across the country.

That's according to Afrika Tikkun, a non-profit youth organisation that provides different services in South Africa.

US senators introduced a bill to renew the African Growth and Opportunity Act through to 2041.

That meant 30 African countries will keep duty-free exports to the American market.

AGOA is set to expire in September 2025, and the extension is dependent on congress approval.

Marc Lubner, Executive Deputy Chairperson, Afrika Tikkun Group explained why this is the case and more.
