Cabinet Reshuffle | President expands his cabinet
JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa had promised to trim down his cabinet but that’s not the case when you look at his recent reshuffle.
He added two portfolios, an Electricity Ministry and a Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation department.
On top of that, three other portfolios now have two deputy ministers each.
Sanco's Donovan Williams says the executive is taking the wrong approach to tackle the country's problems.
Williams said: "There is a lack of courage to invest in the people of South Africa.
"Other countries had the courage to invest in their people, we chose to invest in natural resources.
"We have to take a backseat to big business and foreign capital. We hope the Minister of Electricity will do well. But we don't believe there is a sense of urgency in the cabinet reshuffle and we don't expect there to be."
