JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance's application to order President Cyril Ramaphosa to detain and surrender the Russian President to the International Criminal Court is ill-conceived according to International Law expert, Professor André Thomashausen.
He says Ramaphosa cannot dictate to the independent organs of the judiciary like the National Prosecuting Authority.
He said, "the DA application to order Ramaphosa to detain and then surrender Putin to the ICC is ill-conceived insofar in that President Ramaphosa cannot dictate anything to the NPA."
"The NPA is an independent organ of our judiciary."
