CAPE TOWN - A Western Cape couple arrested at their Blouberg home in June this year for allegedly sexually abusing their two daughters, aged three and eight, have been denied bail in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court.
The couple, aged 47 and 48, face multiple charges, including the production of child sexual abuse material.
Some of the details revealed in court during the bail judgment are too graphic to mention.
The state says these sexual assaults happened over a period of time.
Their arrests came after a thorough investigation, including local specialised units, the FBI, and Homeland Security Investigations.
Magistrate Alida Theart found that it would not be in the interest of justice to grant the couple bail based on the evidence the state presented to the court.
Bail was denied due to the strong possibility that they would evade trial, endanger the safety of witnesses, or attempt to intimidate or influence their daughters.
The couple’s bail proceedings were heard in camera due to the graphic and sensitive nature of the evidence.
