Broos frustrated as Bafana forced back to Mexico before LA trip

JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana have returned to their base in Pachuca before travelling to Los Angeles for Sunday's FIFA World Cup round-of-32 clash against co-hosts Canada.

South Africa secured a historic, first-ever, place in the World Cup knockout stage after a hard-fought victory over South Korea in their final Group A match.

However, head coach Hugo Broos was left frustrated by the team's travel arrangements.

The Belgian wanted his squad to head straight to Los Angeles to begin preparations, but said FIFA insisted they first return to their base in Mexico.

The squad received a warm welcome back to Pachuca, where training facilities manager Humberto Gandata greeted the players ahead of their next journey.
